Camp: An Amazing Gift for Interfaith Families

Camp kids come from a broad range of families with varying degrees of Jewish involvement, and their Jewish knowledge covers the spectrum from none to plenty. For many campers, especially those from small congregations, their URJ Camp is viewed by the congregation itself as a key part of that child’s Jewish education. I, J.C., grew up in a very small congregation in Tupelo, Mississippi; while I attended Sunday school (it was required), I consider camp to be the place where I learned about Judaism, which makes sense: What child isn’t going to be inspired when they are living in an environment that is designed for and around their needs!
